Major Discipline of the Department<\/b><\/h6>\n

Considering the need of the modern time the department focuses on four major branches. These are:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Chemical Engineering and Environmental Chemistry<\/li>\n
  • Metallurgy, Corrosion and Materials Science<\/li>\n
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutics<\/li>\n
  • Chemical Technology, Polymer Science, Textiles Materials,\u00a0 Fuel & Petrochemicals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Curriculum, Exam & Results<\/b><\/h6>\n

    The B.Sc. (Eng.) courses in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering consists of 31 theoretical courses (including six related courses) spread over a period of four academic years. There are 17 days practical examinations, 200 marks viva voce examinations and 125 marks in-plant trainings distributed in four academic years. The Master of Science course is held in two groups: The general group (Group A) and the Thesis group (Group B). The Group A examination consists of 6 theoretical courses, 8 days practical examinations, viva voce and in-plant training. Students of the Group B are more advanced and allowed to undertake research works in lieu of practical courses.<\/p>\n

    Seminar Library<\/b><\/h6>\n

    The Department has a library of its own. It has about 40 seat capacities. Books and journals of various disciplines are available here.<\/p>\n

    Laboratory Facilities<\/b><\/h6>\n

    The department has 6 practical class laboratories namely Organic, Industrial, Physical, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical and Polymer and almost a dozen of research laboratories.<\/p>\n

    In-plant Training Facility<\/b><\/h6>\n

    10-20 days in-plant training in different chemical process industries of the country is compulsory for both B.Sc. Eng. and Masters students.<\/p>\n

    Research Activities<\/b><\/h6>\n

    \u00a0 \u00a0Researches on various fields are going on in the department.<\/b><\/p>\n

    1.\u00a0 In the Chemical Engineering branch, reaction engineering, catalysis, solvent extraction, non-conventional energy sources, environmental pollution control and technology etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. In the metallurgical branch, corrosion inhibition, electroplating, production of new materials, pyro- and hydrometallurgical researches are major research areas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    3. In the pharmaceutical branch, isolation, characterization, computational design and syntheses of new organic compounds of pharmaceutical importance are going on besides researches on natural products, lipid and protein technology and\u00a0<\/p>\n

    4. In the Polymer branch, researches on Natural Polymer, Modification,\u00a0 Chemical modification and dyeing properties of\u00a0 Textile Materials,\u00a0<\/span>Extraction, isolation, purification and application of natural dyes, chemical synthesis, characterization of polymers and\u00a0<\/span>Fabrication of Polymer Composite Materials\u00a0<\/span>are going on.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
